Krokodil was formed in Zurich in 1969. They became associated with the German underground scene and are often grouped with Krautrock bands, but they were kind of their own thing.
Their name, German for “crocodile,” comes from a story that their guitarist Walty Anselmo was watching an actual young crocodile for a friend when the group started. If you Google their name today though you get a lot of information about a dangerous street drug popular in Russia that causes scaly, green-black, necrotic skin damage 😳
