Footage from Permissive (1970), featuring the music of Scottish post-psychedelic group Forever More. Alan Gorrie, the singer and bassist of Forever More shown here, went on to found Average White Band.
The movie’s about a young woman named Suzy (Maggie Stride) who arrives in London penniless and falls in with her old school friend Fiona, who has become a groupie with Forever More. It’s got a documentary vibe and is the opposite of the colorful ‘Swinging London’ ’60s films. BFI called it “a dark British countercultural exploitation artefact, shot through with grim authenticity.”
