Details from the original Amazing Dope Tales and Haight Street Flashbacks by Stephen Gaskin (1980). Stephen is probably best known for founding The Farm in Tennessee (which the Wall Street Journal once called “the General Motors of American communes”), but before that he was getting into all kinds of adventures in the Haight. This book recounts a lot of those times including a number of telepathic experiences with other characters. It’s weirdly entertaining, like reading an erudite Erowid trip report from someone unusually charismatic and engaging.
