Arguably the most far-out and substantive hippie cookbook of the early ‘70s was out of New Hampshire, where I reside nowadays. The True Light Beavers got their name from a set of 9 basketball jerseys found in a thrift store (“from a defunct Zen Buddhist basketball team in New York’s Chinatown”). It’s 263 pages of good vibes and life tips and unlike many hippie cookbooks of the era, it’s not vegetarian and calmly explains why.
