“SF Monthly” was published by the Sexual Freedom League. In the early ‘70s, SFL member Arlene Elster owned and operated the Sutter Cinema in downtown San Francisco to showcase quality pornographic movies “that consisted of more than a penis going in a vagina.” She closed it in 1975, citing a lack of quality movies to show.
