Original wraparound cover for Lee Marrs’ first issue of Pudge. Marrs was one of the “founding mommies” of Wimmen’s Comix among other things and Pudge was her most popular character — an overweight teenage runaway from Normal, Illinois who arrives in ’70s San Francisco and gets in all kinds of urban adventures trying to lose her virginity.
It was reissued as a book a few years ago with this quote from Alison Bechdel on the back: “Step aside, Lena Dunham, Amy Schumer, and Broad City. Pudge, Girl Blimp paved the way for all of you” (and was way better)
